R.E.A.L. Rottweiler Rescue is a small, private Rottweiler rescue based in Ohio. We take in homeless, unwanted, and/or abused Rottweilers and work with them in our homes to assess personality, temperament, training, and other needs. We have never shied away from taking in dogs with behavioral or medical issues when we have an appropriate foster home open for them either! Once we feel we have provided them with all necessities to prepare them for their adoptive homes, we then begin the search to find their furever families. Our goal is to find not just any home for each dog, but the perfect match for both the dog and its' new family. To date, R.E.A.L. has had over 2000 successful adoptions!

While our roots started in Ohio, our efforts and mission have not went unnoticed in other areas. We are so proud and excited that we have started receiving attention nationally! Within the last decade it has not been unheard of that we’ve pulled dogs from the south or more rural shelters on the East Coast, but they have always been adopted in the Midwest. Now not only are we pulling a larger number of dogs from the same areas, we are now becoming approved rescue transfer partners with a much larger numbers of shelters in need, and we have started having some very wonderful families applying to adopt from us in those areas! We are proud to say as of 2024, Texas has been the state we have gained the most ground in, and only hope to continue to grow there. In the future we would love to expand our network into Florida, California, and the Carolina’s as these are unfortunately states with very high rates of euthanasia.

Pictured below is Thor, our very first pup that was pulled out of state and adopted in the same area! Thor had the lifesaving rescue tag sent in to the shelter only hours prior to being euthanized in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. We had one of the most amazing people step up to be a temporary foster for us and him, and then fell in love with him so much she decided he was never leaving again.
